Biography

Sherry Brokus Patton is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her masters in school psychology in 1983 from Towson State University in Baltimore, Maryland. She has been in Austin since 1994. She was psychologist for two years with the Austin Independent School District for emotionally disturbed adolescents. Her internship was at John Hopkins Hospital and the Anne Arundel County Board of Education. In addition to full time practice, she tailors public and professional workshops on topics ranging from conflict resolution, empowering a productive workforce, self-esteem and communication building, and dealing with stress, depression and ADHD.

Prior to moving to Austin, she lived and practiced in Maryland for over ten years. She was director of an outpatient counseling program for juvenile offenders; a psychologist with the Department of Juvenile Services and with a group home for emotionally disturbed and sexually abused adolescents. In addition, she held various State of Maryland contracts for professional training and education for court ordered Substance Abuse/Sexual Offenders. In 1989, she pioneered the first Baltimore City HIV/AIDS street outreach; and developed the adolescent parenting program for People Against Child Abuse.
